Met Abandonware wordt (oude) software bedoeld, waar oorspronkelijk wel copyright op zat, maar die door de makers niet meer wordt geclaimd, bijvoorbeeld omdat het bedrijf niet meer bestaat, of wanneer het te duur zou worden om de copyrights te claimen.

Het gaat meestal om oude computerspellen voor DOS en spelcomputers.
